Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? 1966 - Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, George Segal, Sandy Dennis

Only movie that I don't like that she made. Don't know why but it is just strange to me and does not appeal.

I get that - not exactly a "feel good" movie. It is uncomfortable to watch.

The film was nominated in thirteen categories and Liz Taylor won her second Award here...i should admit it takes a lot of talent to act so much disturbing to make you not like her ,although in real life she wasnt very easy woman to live with but thumbs up for her performance in this movie!

The performances are amazing - I just meant it is not a movie I personally like to watch. I think it is because it is so real and the subject matter is dark. But I definitely admire the acting chops it takes to do something like this. Liz was beyond amazing in capturing this character.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU! I guess that is why I did not care for the movie because they both made you hate them and the way they carried on you just thought someone is going to die. It is sad that she could not find a man that could love her the way she needed but I think for me breaking up your best friend's marriage was bad and she had to live with that but then we all have to live with the decisions we make and choose in living our life. I am a Christian and I know right from wrong but it doesn't make me perfect. I think being thrust into the show biz life at such a young age may have had an effect or contributed to the way her life was. She was a great actress and very beautiful and my favorite was a little film called Conspirator with Robert Taylor and she was only 17 if I remember correctly when they filmed that and he was a lot older than her. In looking at the story of her's and Richard Burton's love affair and marriage they almost lived the story line behind this movie. I think they really loved each other but I think Mike Todd was the love of her life but then that is something only she knew. Thanks for the discussion. You hit it on the head when you stated that to act that crazy in the movie takes a lot of talent but then maybe some of it was from living it outside the movie. I agree with you about Richard Todd and also about becoming famous so young. I blame Eddie Fisher as much as I do Liz for that disaster of a marriage - she wasn't married, he was...but anyway - she wasn't the first child star to have problems and certainly wasn't the last. I love her in The Girl Who Had Everything, Father of The Bride, and Father's Little Dividend - she is just stunning and fresh and adorable!! I guess I don't care for her later work as much but my movie preference in general is the period between 1930 and about 1964. Movies lost a lot of their innocence and glamour around that time. But Liz was always a star and a tough woman but still so fragile at the same time.

I meant Mike Todd. - you know.. I had just watched a Richard Todd movie and had him on the brain when I wrote that lol.
